Hello,

I have had a thorough read through this really excellent and detailed web site, hoping to findthe age of the red-brick cottages in Church Square, but on this one thing have drawn a blank! I wondered if any bulletin board member knows?

All the best,

Rob,

Can you be more precise in the location of these cottages.
Do you mean the ones opposite the Post Office & Doctors ?

I will endeavour to find out for you

Hello Alan,

Yes, they're the ones... specifically number 7, the one with the for sale sign! Any sleuthing you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I recall seeing a date over the property at the end of the row of cottages, (Church end) previously a shop.
I had a look today and it stated 1608 but it is a different type of brickwork to the cottages, so they were built much later in life.
Back to square one then.

Thank you for looking - my guess would be somewhere around 130 - 160 years old? There were similar properties in a Northumbrian village in which I used to live which were estate cottages, all about 150 years old.
