Bures Hamlet Parish Council - About us

As well as being members of Bures Hamlet Parish Council, the members serve on the Joint Cemetery Authority which maintains the cemetery, the Joint Sportsground Committee and the Village Hall Committee.

The Parish Council partly maintains the parish footpath cleansing via a grant from the District Council. It also pays for the upkeep of the parish owned street lamps.

The Parish Council is in partnership with Essex County Council under the Parish Paths Partnership Scheme for overseeing the maintenance of all parish footpaths, bridleways and rights of ways.

The Parish Council has the right of representation on planning matters, which included all planning applications and strategic plan proposals.

Council meetings:

Meetings are normally held on a Monday, bimonthly in the Village Hall commencing at 8.00pm. The meeting notices are posted on the noticeboard at the end of Station Hill adjacent to the Swan Public House.

Meetings are open to the public - anyone is welcome to attend and to raise questions during question time at the end of the meeting

Agenda items:

Members of the public are welcome to write to ask that a particular matter be placed on the agenda. Such requests must reach the Clerk two weeks before the meeting.

The Council will either accept the request or explain in writing why it is not appropriate to do so.

The Annual Parish Meeting is normally held in March.
At the Annual Parish Meeting it is your opportunity to raise matters appropriate to the Parish Council in an open forum.
